We plan our dive trips to leave later than most of the other dive centers so we are diving while they have a surface interval, meaning the dive sites are less crowded.

These dive sites are located within 25 minutes boat ride from Leisure Dive Center and can be reached with either our big dive boat ‘Chocktavee’ or traditional thai longtail boats.
Koh Phi Phi Leh is the second largest island in the Phi Phi National Marine park and home to the famous ‘Maya bay’ where The Beach was filmed. The dive sites here are very popular due to the range of marine life that can be seen here.
These twin rocks located south of Phi Phi Leh island are the most famous dive sites of the area, drawing divers from as far away as Phuket, Krabi and Koh Lanta. These sites are large and one can easily make 2 to 3 separate dives on each island without repeating an area. The shallow bay of Bida Nok is perfect for novice divers, while advanced divers can explore the beautiful submerged Fantasy reef to the south-west of Bida Nai. Thrilling penetration and swimming through are also what a great number of divers and swimmers desire. There’s a small cave (only recommend experienced diver) at 20 meters depth in the northwest of Bida Nok. Large and small pinnacles can be found around the 2 islands.
DIVE THE KING CRUISER FROM PHI PHI ISLAND On the 4th May 1997 the King Cruiser, a car ferry operating from Phuket to Phi Phi, hit a submerged collection of rocky pinnacles (Anemone Reef). The impact split the designated marine sanctuary and popular dive site in two… 17 minutes later it was under 30m of water. All 561 passengers were rescued and safely taken to 2 police boats and 5 fishing boats. The wreck sits upright in 32 metres of water and remains in one piece, although the forward upper deck has collapsed. Penetration is safe and possible through different points, however it is recommended to take precautions and follow the advice of your dive guide. The site is suitable for advanced or deep dive trained divers and the trip is usually combined with the nearby sites Shark Point or Anemone Reef.
Anemone reef is located 55 minutes away from Leisure Dive center, towards Phuket. This submerged pinnacle starts at 5m depth and descends to around 25m. As its name suggests, the top of this site is packed with anemones (photo above) giving the appearance of the whole site swaying with the currents and water movement. It is suitable for divers of all experience levels, with marine life including huge schools of snappers, giant and white eye morays as well as smaller creatures such as seahorses and ghost pipefish. We usually combine this dive with nearby sites Shark Point and King Cruiser.
Shark Point is a 55 minute boat ride from Laemtong beach in the direction of Phuket. Although leopard sharks can sometimes be spotted here, this site actually got its name from the shape of the rock which breaks the surface. The maximum depth at shark point is 25m but there are many areas around both pinnacles that are between 5m and 16m, making it a site that can be enjoyed by divers of all levels.
Nui Rocks is located along the west coast of Phi Phi Don island. Two large rocks sit in front of the bay, offering some exciting swim-throughs and home to various nudibranch species, seahorses, reef grouper, butterflyfish, moray eel and ghost pipefish. You will also discover plenty of colourful reefs and some soft corals. Travel time to the site from our dive shop is between 15 & 25 minutes depending on which side of the island we start from. Green turtle and leopard shark can also be spotted here.
250 meters out the bay in front of our dive centre, the reef lies along the cliff for 1.5km. The coral garden plunges to 18 meters. It is an uncomplicated wall with coral garden in the bottoms. The site is suitable for Discover Scuba Diving as the average depth is only 15m. Going out to the cliff requires vigorous swimming for around 8 mins before descending. Under the water, you will come across young reef fish such as parrotfish, sergeant major, damsel, angelfish, needlefish and schools of yellow snapper along the way. Small shrimps and crabs are on Brain and Leather Corals. Cuttlefish loves to camouflage among staghorn coral as well. Other soft corals, small gorgonians, sea feather and whips are common here.
The north west coast of Phi Phi Leh island is a long stretch which is divided into 3 separate sites called Maya North, Palong and Mushroom Rock. These sites are extremely popular due to the high number of hawksbill and green turtles living there. Maya North is a site that can be enjoyed by all divers, from first time Discover Scuba Divers who can enjoy the shallow plateau that stretches the length of the dive site to more advanced divers who can explore the deeper reefs, there is something for everyone.
Palong is the little area located just next to Maya Bay to the north or at the south western of Phi Phi archipelago. It is habitation of black tip reef sharks and hawksbill turtles. The main reef follows along the limb stone cliff from north to south due to the current flow. There are some big rocks and pinnacles together on the same way as the cliff. The site is fit for all levels of diver. The sandy area inside the bay is capable for snorkeling. The bay and the wall are teeming with soft and hard corals, sea fan, sea whip and sponges. You can detect little Nudibranch crawling on the reef and the cliff. Scorpion Fish and Lionfish are disguising among the reef or on some rocks. Shoal of Fusilier Fish, Moorish Idol, Batfish, Parrotfish and Triggerfish always roam around coral ridge.
Viking Bay is a bit to the north of Viking Cave. The dive site is pretty simple as there is a couple of artificial cube-shaped reef in the south and piles of coral garden, anemone and some barrel sponges to the north. There are pinnacles at the deeper part. The artificial reef was established after the tsunami to be shelter motley species including porcupine fish, lionfish, triggerfish, batfish and other common tropical reef fish. You can also meet turtle and blacktip reef shark occasionally. The depth of the site range from 5-25m with the visibility of 10-25m. The current varies from mild to medium. The site is better visited during the green season due to the seasonal wind.
Pileh Wall is located to the south of Pileh Bay. The dive site is a sloping wall with exquisite soft coral, nudibranches and enormous fan. There are also some pinnacles along the wall. Turtles and blacktip reef shark visit the area from time to time. You can also find triggerfish, pufferfish, boxfish and other typical reef fish. The site is also fitting for all divers’ level.
Kled Kaew Wreck was submerged by the Royal Thai Navy in 2014 with the distance of 8km to the north of Phi Phi Leh. Even it’s quite a new site, the wreck is home to thousands of fish. The whole wreck area is encompassed by yellowtail barracuda and mackerel. Lionfish and scorpionfish can be commonly seen in every corner of the wreck. Other fish such as porcupine fish, grouper, rabbit fish, snapper, damselfish, trevally and squid can also be recognized all over the sphere. The depth of Kled Kaew starts from 14 meters to 26 meters. The usual visibility is 5-20 meters. Penetration into this wreck is possible in some area such as the railings and ladders next to small cabin on the top deck. The position of the wreck is sensitive current so it is more suitable for experienced or confident divers. You must be certified in Advance Open Water Course or have done PADI Wreck Diving Specialties to dive at this wreck.
Loh Samah Bay is situated behind Maya Bay to the south. The place is excellent and famous for offering good diving conditions for all levels of divers as. The outstanding part of this site the gorge in the east at 15-20 meters where swim through is possible. Varied types of fish can be found in the area such as porcupine fish, pufferfish and boxfish. Parrotfish, snapper, Moorish idol, butterflyfish and triggerfish are always venturing around the reef. Some kinds of sea anemone are a nest of crown fish in the bay. Barrel sponge can be detected on the sandy floor. You may see some little creatures hiding in there or stingray lying nearby. It is also home to hawksbill turtles.
Wang Long is located on the southwest edge of Phi Phi Don and offers an exceptional wall that drops down to 20m. The site is rather recommended to experienced divers if you plan to enter the two caves there, or else it is quite suitable for all level divers. Gorgonian fan, diverse sea whips and other colourful soft corals expose all over the wall. You can expect groupers, lionfish, triggerfish and camouflaged scorpionfish here as well as other reef fish like Moorish Idol, sweetlips, angelfish and butterflyfish. The visibility of this site is 5-15m with mild to medium current. The best time to visit this site is from Feb to May.
